Tether Launches Native Tether (USDT) on Kaia Blockchain
The world’s largest stablecoin issuer, Tether, has announced the launch of its native Tether (USDT) on the Kaia blockchain.
LINE NEXT, a subsidiary of LINE dedicated to developing and expanding the Web3 ecosystem, has created Kaia, a public Layer 1 blockchain that exclusively supports Mini Dapp and Dapp Portal ecosystems accessible via the LINE messaging app.
This collaboration will further integrate Kaia with LINE NEXT’s blockchain-driven services and platforms, providing mainstream Asian consumers with dollar-pegged stablecoin products.
As part of this collaboration, USDT will be supported on the Mini Dapp platform within the LINE messaging app and the self-custody wallet infrastructure.
By launching USDT in the rapidly growing Web3 ecosystem on the Kaia blockchain, Tether can expand the stable trading range of the world’s largest stablecoin to LINE’s 196 million active users each month. This means users will be able to utilize USDT for in-app payments, cross-border transfers, and decentralized finance (DeFi) activities, all within the familiar LINE environment.
Mini Dapps built on the Kaia blockchain will offer extensive functionalities supported by USDT, allowing users to experience a seamless connection to digital assets within the LINE messaging app.
Main Features of LINE NEXT Utilizing USDT
Users can complete tasks within various Mini Dapps and earn rewards in USDT.
Users can conveniently and quickly send and receive USDT with friends through the in-app payment wallet on LINE.
Other features that LINE NEXT is considering include the integration of USDT into Mini Dapps.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated, “The announcement of a native application on the Kaia blockchain marks another step forward for Tether, enabling millions of mainstream users to more easily access stablecoins. With LINE NEXT’s trusted blockchain infrastructure, over 200 million LINE users globally will now be able to manage various digital assets in their daily lives in a simple and quick manner. Tether’s expansion into the Kaia blockchain also highlights our commitment to promoting stablecoin adoption in Asia and beyond.”
Sam Seo, Chairman of the Kaia DLT Foundation, expressed, “Tether’s decision to launch native USDT on the Kaia blockchain will accelerate the expansion of premium dollar stablecoins in the Asian market, and our collaboration with LINE NEXT has made significant progress in our hybrid payment solutions. With the lowest transaction latency in the EVM and instant finality, Kaia’s USDT provides the fastest, easiest, and most reliable user experience across various platforms such as LINE, DeFi, and CEXs.”
Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, stated, “The adoption of USDT by LINE NEXT will help establish a dollar-based stablecoin trading gateway in Asia. By integrating stablecoin-driven services, our goal is to bring Web3 services closer to users’ daily experiences.”
Kaia and LINE NEXT position themselves as strategic portals for dollar stablecoins in Asia, aiming to facilitate the widespread circulation of USDT and lay the foundation for a Web3 ecosystem in Asia that supports USDT.
Integrating Tether’s market-leading stablecoin into Kaia’s robust blockchain and DeFi ecosystem not only simplifies the processes of fiat-to-digital asset conversion for deposits and withdrawals but also helps propel LINE NEXT’s ambitions to expand the Web3 market.
Combining LINE’s mainstream influence, Kaia blockchain’s scalability, and USDT’s liquidity, this collaboration will lay the groundwork for broader financial inclusion and practical Web3 applications in the most active markets in Asia, allowing everyone to equally enjoy effective and convenient financial services.
