Taobao Taiwan, an overseas branch of Taobao, announced its partnership with Jkopay, introducing localized payment services for Taiwanese users. This collaboration aims to provide a more convenient payment process for students and users without credit cards.
Jkopay is the only electronic payment platform in Taiwan directly connected to 29 major banks. Through this partnership with Taobao, users can make payments on the Taobao website without the need to bind a credit card. They can choose to pay through their bank accounts or prepaid methods, allowing university students and others without credit cards to easily shop without paying a 1.5% overseas transaction fee.
Jason Fan, the General Manager of Jkopay, expressed his hope that through the advantage of Jkopay’s large number of verified users, Taiwanese consumers will no longer need to repeatedly enter payment information or undergo identity verification when using the new payment method on Taobao. In addition to avoiding the overseas transaction fee for credit card payments, users can also accumulate Jkopay currency rewards.
Regarding this partnership, Liu Huijuan, the General Manager of Taobao Taiwan, stated that the introduction of Taiwan’s leading electronic payment brand, Jkopay, allows consumers without credit cards to purchase cross-border goods on Taobao. It also supports local partners in further expanding the user base for cross-border shopping. The collaboration between the two parties will bring about cross-border growth benefits.
In addition to Jkopay, Taobao also provides multiple payment options such as Visa, JCB, Citibank account payment, and more, to meet the diverse needs of consumers and provide more flexibility in choices.
In 2024, in addition to site-wide discounts, Taobao Double 11 will offer the “First Purchase Big Red Envelope” plan for new users. New users who register for a Taobao account can immediately receive a 60 RMB (approximately 270 TWD) shopping red envelope. They will also enjoy three exclusive services: free local returns, zero tax fees, and no payment processing fees for their first purchase.
Furthermore, this year, Taobao offers free shipping for over 10 billion items on the entire site. For a single purchase of over 99 RMB (approximately 445 TWD), users can choose to pick up their orders at 7-ELEVEN convenience stores or have them delivered by sea shipping for free.
