New Shiba Inu Neiro Appears
On May 24th, Kabosu, the original Shiba Inu of the DOGE meme, passed away. The crypto industry mourned the loss and also paid attention to Kabosu’s owner, Kabosu Mama. Yesterday at 5 am, Kabosu Mama announced on the X platform that she had adopted a new Shiba Inu named “ねいろ” (Neiro in English). This immediately sparked the creation of several meme projects with the same name. In this article, Odaily Star Daily will briefly discuss this phenomenon.
Neiro or Neiro, is that the question?
It’s worth noting that the person who proposed the name Neiro is not Kabosu Mama, but the DAO organization Own the Doge, which currently holds the copyright to the images related to the dogecoin prototype Kabosu. They commented, “Much wow, welcome to the family Neiro.” This ID has generated several representative projects, including the following three:
Neiro: Lowercase name, a legitimate meme?
The first Neiro token contract on the Solana ecosystem was deployed after 5 am and can be considered the fastest-reacting “meme coin project.” At the time of writing, the token price was around $0.049, with a market capitalization of $49.7 million. The highest price briefly exceeded $0.12.

Japanese ねいろ: The most authentic meme?
Based on the information released on the pump.fun platform, the Solana ecosystem meme coin ねいろ (translated as “Neiro” in Japanese) is also seen as a symbol of the new Shiba Inu. At the time of writing, the token price was around $0.00023, with a market capitalization of $233,000. The highest price briefly reached $0.0018 but has since dropped significantly. However, many people are attracted to its “authenticity” and have taken positions based on that.

In addition, there are many other meme coin projects with the same name, such as Neiro, NEIRO, ねいろ, etc. Some projects even claim to be “The New Doge,” such as CTg3ZgYx79zrE1MteDVkmkcGniiFrK1hJ6yiabropump, with a market capitalization of around $21.3 million, which is worth paying attention to. Please be cautious and beware of fraud.)
The Story Behind ねいろ
In Kabosu Mama’s tweet, she made a simple “welcome introduction” about the new Shiba Inu ねいろ: “We have welcomed a new family member named ‘Neiro,’ which means the color of music. She is a 10-year-old adopted female dog. In the past 10 years, Neiro has experienced pain, fear, and sadness. But from now on, only happiness and pleasant things. Happy days have begun!”
Like Kabosu, the original Shiba Inu of Dogecoin, Neiro also found a new home after going through many hardships. Moreover, around 8 am yesterday (3 hours after the announcement of Neiro’s adoption), Kabosu Mama tweeted again, reminding everyone: “I have seen many tokens related to Kabosu and Neiro. To clarify, I only approve of @ownthedoge dog as a crypto project because they own the original Doge photos and intellectual property (I have given it to them) and are dedicated to doing good things, charity, and spreading Doge culture.”
The background of this incident dates back to April this year when the decentralized autonomous organization Own the Doge purchased the image copyright related to the dogecoin prototype Kabosu. The specific amount of this transaction has not been disclosed, but it took three years to complete. John Monarch, the project leader of Own The Doge, stated that with the clearer ownership of the dogecoin image copyright, the opportunities for collaboration with major brands are increasing. This serves as a significant example of the “meme power breaking boundaries” to some extent.
Conclusion: Memes are immortal, and the hype continues
In just a day or so, the emergence of Neiro has brought new vitality to the meme coin market and created new “get rich quick stories”—
An address made a profit of $1.93 million with an initial investment of only $80,000, yielding a return of 2397%. The analysis shows that the position building can be divided into two rounds: 1) Buying 70.8 million tokens for 15.089 SOL one minute after Neiro launched, at an average price of only $0.00003914, and subsequently selling a portion of the initial position in batches within six hours; 2) Re-entering the market when the market capitalization reached $79 million, buying 983,500 tokens for 420.75 SOL, with an average price of $0.07916, and then selling all within an hour.
According to on-chain analyst Ai Yi, this address had previously participated in several meme token trades within a month using a “buy lottery ticket” strategy, including the previous hot Laser Eyes meme. Their success rate was only 31.25%, indicating that they were unlikely to be insiders.
The deployer of Neiro made a profit of 15,508 SOL ($2.85 million) with only 3 SOL ($552). Their earnings multiplied 5,169 times.
When deploying Neiro, they purchased 97.5 million Neiro tokens for 3 SOL ($552). Subsequently, they sold 68 million Neiro tokens for 15,511 SOL ($2.85 million) across multiple wallets. They also sent 10 million Neiro tokens to another wallet, leaving them with 19.5 million Neiro tokens ($1.8 million), unrealized profit of $1.8 million.
According to Bubblemaps analysis, the developer of Solana meme coin Neiro has made a profit of $3.3 million. They purchased tokens from multiple addresses and currently hold 6% of Neiro’s supply. Although the project denied this disclosure and claimed that the developer only holds 1.6% of the supply and has no intention of selling in the near future, it seems less convincing. The project’s official Twitter account has been suspended by X platform, seemingly due to violations.
As we mentioned in our previous article “Meme Coins: The Complete Substitute for NFTs,” meme coin projects care more about “whether more people pay attention” rather than whether “this thing is good or bad.” Therefore, both the news of Kabosu’s death and the adoption of the new Shiba Inu Neiro have quickly gained a lot of attention and subsequently boosted market activity and liquidity.
Neiro, with its cuteness, charitable attributes, and popularity, may become another emerging meme in the online world, just like Kabosu, becoming a generation’s internet memory. The power of memes transcends time and space, and the hype around meme coins will not stop; it simply varies in intensity.
